Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward

So I was browsing the Kindle store yesterday while I was trying to figure out which book that I had pre-ordered were coming out soon. While looking I saw that there was a book in my suggested read area that looked interesting. I mean I read a lot of different books, and as long as they are interesting I can usually read them in a day or two no problem. So one I read the description, I decided that I would give it a go. So I am going to give you the cover (so you know what to look for) and the description and let you decide for yourself if it looks good enough for you. But let me tell you, you need to read it!

Description:

You're not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn't prepared for how much of a jerk he'd be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn't want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. But things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Then, just as quickly as he'd come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I'd seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I'd have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.

**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+

Goodness if that cover alone doesn't get you to read it, the description should! But beware it does cover taboo crap.

Basically, Greta meets her stepbrother Elec when he comes to stay with them while he mother is gone. From the first meeting Elec is an asshole to her, but it doesn't deter Greta from trying to befriend him. Over time, things settle down between them, and while they still tease each other, it is not as mean as it first was. Greta ends up falling for him and gets insanely jealous when she sees or hears him with other girls. It doesn't help that he allows her to read a book that he had been working on and she falls even more in love with him.

All of a sudden, Elec has to go back to California because his mom is back unexpectedly. Knowing that it could very well be the last time they see each other, all the sexual tension between the two of them comes to head and they end their time together in a very heated and passionate way. Her heart breaks knowing that he takes a piece of her with him and that she loves him in a way that she didn't know that was possible.

Years later, all her feelings come rushing back when they are thrown together because of a family tragedy. The only problem is that he has a girlfriend who he seems to be serious about. Little does she know that he is fighting his feelings for her just as much as she is fighting her feelings for him. She finally learns everything a few months after they part ways again when he texts her out of nowhere asking her to read his autobiography. When she finishes what he has written, she believe that he ended it that way because the rest of his life won't involve her. But she has a surprise waiting for her when she finishes it.

I am really happy with this book. I am extremely happy that I put aside my preconceived notions about this subject and decided to read it. In fact I was so engrossed by it that I was able to read it in two sittings, most of it being done last night after I bought it and the rest while my kids took a nap this afternoon. I am fascinated by Penelope Ward's writing and I can not wait to see what I can find by her next.
