White Trash Beutiful by Teresa Mummert

I picked this book up in paperback because of the title and the beautiful cover. After reading the  back cover I just had to have it. I am so glad that the cover caught my eye and that I decided to buy it. This has to be one of the best rags-to-princess stories I have ever had the pleasure of picking up! Here's an over view of the book and then I will give you my take on it.

Overview

A word-of-mouth bestseller that’s captivating readers with its honesty, grit, and headstrong heroine, White Trash Beautiful is a story for anyone who has ever felt trapped in life, cheated by love—and longed for something more . . .

Cass Daniels isn’t waiting for her knight in shining armor. She knows that girls like her don’t get a happily ever after. Not if you live in a trailer with your mom, work at a greasy spoon diner, and get leered at by old men. Maybe that’s why she puts up with Jackson—her poor excuse for a boyfriend, who treats her like dirt. Cass has learned to accept her lot in life. That is, until he walks into her diner. . . .

His name is Tucker White, and he’s different from any man Cass has ever known. Tall, tattooed, and bad-ass gorgeous, he’s the lead singer of the rock band Damaged. From the moment they meet, Tucker sees something in Cass he just can’t shake. Something beautiful. Something haunted. Something special. And he’s determined to find out what it is—if only he can get her to open up and let him in. . . .

Cass is a waitress who works at a run down diner and lives in a small trailer park on the other side of the diner's parking lot. She had her dad walk out on her and her mom when she was little and after that her mom had a string of boyfriends who tried things when her mom was too strung out to pay attention. Luckily she had Jax around to keep them at bay. But then Jax started using drugs and everything changed.

All Cass dreams about is making enough money to escape with her mom. She knows that Jax isn't any good for her, but she stays with him because she is afraid to leave him. He is mean when he is sober, but even worse when he is strung out which is 95% of the time. Plus there are times when he is sober that she sees the boy that she fell in love with and she thinks that if she could get him help, Jax will go back to that boy. But Jax doesn't want help.

One day Tucker walks into her diner and her whole life changes. She doesn't know who he is or that his is on his way to being famous. All she knows is that he is one of the most beautiful guys she has ever seen and he can take her attitude and make her smile. So when he keeps coming back daily, even after witnessing Jax come in and get mean, she starts to let down her walls around him and get to know him. She does the unthinkable and even goes out on a date with him. But when she realizes how close he is getting she tries to push him away.

All Tucker wants to do is protect Cass from Jax and get her away from all her problems, but Cass doesn't think she is worthy of him. I love how the relationship between Cass and Tucker unfolds and how she starts to realize that she deserves much better than what she is getting from Jax. I love the way that Tucker doesn't care what anyone else says about Cass, he knows what he wants and he goes for it. But Tucker has problems of his own to deal with, and when things get complicated with Cass, he couldn't be happier that e finally has a good reason to get her away from Jax and the trailer park.

But then tragedy strikes and Cass runs off trying to protect herself and Tucker from the pain. She finds a new job and apartment under a different name trying to hide away. But Tucker finds her in the end and convinces her that no matter what happens, they belong together.

This story gets you really emotional. There are parts where I was so angry with what was happening, to turn around and be super happy with the way things go. There were a few parts where I shed some tears and the ending made me super happy and looking for the next book White Trash Damaged. I have to give this book 5 stars because it just amazed me that much. If you want to see for yourself what I mean, go pick it up today!

Torn by K. A. Robinson

So I had to start a new series recently because I was going to be part of a blog tour of a newly released book. Besides I love this author very much and I wanted to read more of her work. So when I found out that Tainted by K. A. Robinson was going to be needing reviews done, I went and picked up Torn which is the first book in the series. Oh my goodness am I glad that I did.

Overview

Two people with battered souls are thrust together unexpectedly, leaving a profound impact on each other’s lives.
Chloe hasn’t had the easiest childhood. With a mother who was absent most of the time, she practically had to raise herself. Determined to start a new life and leave her demons behind, she heads to West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan. On the first day of classes, she spots a student who takes her breath away. Drake is a pierced, tattooed bad boy, and no matter how hard she tries to fight it, he’s all she can think about.

Drake has never cared about anyone other than himself, but when Chloe grabs the empty seat next to him in class, he is instantly drawn to her. Drake is left wondering whether this girl can take his cold, womanizing heart and alter him forever.

Developing feelings for each other was never a part of their plan, and when it happens, things do anything but fall into place. Long-hidden emotions are revealed and friendships are tested to the brink as Chloe and Drake become helplessly entwined in each other’s love.

This book has everything I could ask for. It has a hot rocker with a troubled past, a strong lead female character with a troubled past of her own, the quirky best friend, and a love triangle. Chloe is the girl that everyone wants to be around. She is strong minded, doesn't give a crap about what other people think, is beautiful without knowing it, and has her own sense of style which her best friend Amber calls rocker chic. She knows what she wants and is going after it.

What she doesn't anticipate is Drake. But from the first time she sees him in class, she can't get him out of her head. When she finds out that he is in a band, that just makes him more interesting. But things get complicated when her other best friend Logan reveals his feelings.

Knowing that Logan is the safer person for her and her plans, she decides to give things a try with him. But just because Logan is who she thinks she should be with doesn't keep her heart from wanting Drake. And it doesn't help that Drake keeps drawing her in without even trying. Things end up heated one day during a study session and Chloe does something that changes everything.

I have to give this book a solid 5 stars. I absolutely loved this book and had to start on book 2 Twisted immediately. If you are looking to start a new series anytime soon you need to get this one. And if you pick it up son, both Torn and Twisted are on sale for $1.99 each. So go pick them up today and get ready for the release of the third and final book Tainted!

The Promise by Kate Benson

So another book I recently got done reading was The Promise by Kate Benson. As my three year old would say O. M. G.!! I had an extremely hard time putting this book down. Here is the synopsis and my take on it!

Synopsis:
Devastated by circumstances beyond her control, Sophie Ryan’s life rips her from the arms of her first love, Jack. With only memories of their lost love, she’s forced to start over in a new town; surviving on her own for the first time since he left. Trying to begin her new life, fate decides a different direction for her, causing her to make a choice she never thought she’d have to.

Unsure of commitment after his failed engagement, Chase Mitchell finds himself stuck on a path of failed conquests and late nights at the bar. That is until he finds a pair of mesmerizing green eyes sitting in his usual spot. Something about this quiet girl forces him to question everything he has ever thought about love.

As Sophie looks down at the fork that’s presented in her path, will she choose the right direction? Will she be able to move towards the arms of the man who stands in front of her? Or will she choose to keep her promise to the one life forced her to leave behind?

*SPOILERS*

This is a beautiful story of a girl and her best friend trying to get over the loss of someone. Jack was a soldier in the army trying to make the world a safer place for his sister Ana and fiancĂ© Sophie. None of them imagined that weeks after he came home on leave that he would die. But that's what happened leaving Ana and Sophie to pick up the pieces of their lives. Deciding that she can't move on in her hometown, Ana packs up her and Sophie and moves them to a new town a few hours away to make a fresh start. On her first day in town, Ana meets Drake who literally takes her breath away. That same evening Sophie meets Chase while visiting Ana at work. The feelings he revives in her scare her and she tries to run so she can protect her heart. Eventually her and Chase get together, but Sophie hasn't told Chase about Jake and has a hard time opening up about what broke her heart. They end up working through things, but not until they get in a big fight when someone from Sophie's past comes for a visit and a Chase gets jealous. After working through their problems things seem to be getting better, only to fall apart again. Thus time they break up because of an ex and just when they are trying to work things out, there us an accident and someone's life hangs in the balance.

I can not wait to see what mrs benson does with the next book because this cliffhanger ending is killing me!! Totally a 4.5 star book, probably would gave been more but that cliffhanger got me!

Unsettled by S. C. Ellington

So I just got done reading another great book. Perhaps you have heard of it...Unsettled by S. C. Ellington? Yes? No? Well either way here's the synopsis and my review

Synopsis:
After a horrific breakup with her longtime boyfriend, Brooklyn Caldwell is completely disenchanted with the notion of mingling with the opposite sex. Damon Williams had been everything she thought she wanted…until he wasn’t.

In an attempt to escape her heartbreaking past, Brooklyn seeks refuge in bustling Washington, D.C. where she folds into the fast-paced society unnoticed…until she meets a young entrepreneur, Logan Colton.

Brooklyn is surprised to find that while she has been successful in keeping the opposite sex at bay, somehow she is defenseless against Logan’s confidence and charm—and it doesn’t hurt that he is absurdly beautiful.

As much as Logan didn’t plan on pursuing her, he is drawn to Brooklyn’s muted beauty and her witty persona. For all his success, Logan is ensnared in the coveted world of unequivocal wealth and power, but behind closed doors is taunted by demons and an undeniable need to atone for a monumental mistake.

As the two embark on a tumultuous obstacle course saturated with unknown twists and turns, Brooklyn is left to question whether she can endure the journey ahead.

I really liked this book! I love the build up of the relationship between Logan and Brooklyn. I
also like the backstory about why Brooklyn is the way she is. This book has ups, downs, drama, fierce passion, and loyal friends. The contrast between the life Brooklyn and Colton is brought up, but isn't the main focus of the story either. I really hope that Mrs Ellington plans on giving us more of Logan's story in the next book! I can't wait for Spring so this story can continue because we are left with a nice cliffhanger. But for a rating, I have to give this book 4.5 star.

Elevated by Elana Johnson synopsis and review

Elana Johnson's books are awesome. I know that they are teen books, but who doesn't love a book that's wholesome and amazing at the same time? I know that I do. So when she asked for people to read and review her upcoming book Elevated, I jumped at the chance!

Synopsis:

The last person seventeen-year-old Eleanor Livingston wants to see on the elevator—let alone get stuck with—is her ex-boyfriend Travis, the guy she's been avoiding for five months.

Plagued with the belief that when she speaks the truth, bad things happen, Elly hasn’t told Trav anything. Not why she broke up with him and cut off all contact. Not what happened the day her father returned from his deployment to Afghanistan. And certainly not that she misses him and still thinks about him everyday.

But with nowhere to hide and Travis so close it hurts, Elly’s worried she won’t be able to contain her secrets for long. She’s terrified of finally revealing the truth, because she can’t bear to watch a tragedy befall the boy she still loves.

I totally read this book in a few hours. I could not put it down! And since I started it late at night, I finally went to sleep around 4 am. But anyways, this book is about Elly, a girl who is dealing with a lot. Her dad got injured, she lost both of her best friends, but in different ways, the only other person she could talk to moved away.

And that's just the stuff everyone knows about. She seems to think it is all her fault because bad stuff seems to happen when she tells someone her secrets. That isn't including the one thing she can't seem to tell anyone. At least she couldn't until she gets trapped unexpectedly in an elevator with the one person she had been trying to avoid.

I love how she ends up telling her biggest secret to the one person who really needs to know. I also love how she doesn't let her love for Travis stop her from following through with her plan to leave her home. But at least now she's not running away by doing it, she's moving on with her life.

I have to give this book 4.5 stars and think that you should go pick it up as soon as it comes out. That's my honest opinion of this book

Endless by Amanda Gray

Another book that I recently got as an ARC for an honest review was Endless by Amanda Gray. This book was worth 4 stars! Here is the synopsis and then I will tell you why it was so good:

Endless:
Jenny Kramer knows she isn't normal. After all, not everybody can see the past lives of people around them.

When she befriends Ben Daulton, resident new boy, the pair stumble on an old music box with instructions for “mesmerization” and discover they may have more in common than they thought. Like a past life.

Using the instructions in the music box, Ben and Jenny share a dream that transports them to Romanov Russia and leads them to believe they have been there together before. But they weren't alone. Nikolai, the mysterious young man Jenny has been seeing in her own dreams was there, too. When Nikolai appears next door, Jenny is forced to acknowledge that he has travelled through time and space to find her. Doing so means he has defied the laws of time, and the Order, an ominous organization tasked with keeping people in the correct time, is determined to send him back.

While Ben, Jenny and Nikolai race against the clock - and the Order - Jenny and Nikolai discover a link that joins them in life - and beyond death.

I really like this book. There's a mystery surrounding Jenny that she has to figure out in order to save someone she loves. With the help of her best friend Tiffany and her new friend Ben she just might be able to do what needs to be done before she is out of time. And the fact that she starts remembering Nikolai before she even meets him just shows that soul mates are real! That there is no limit between time or space, if you are meant to be together, the universe will make sure that you find a way to each other!

Streaks Of Blue by Jack Chaucer

So recently I received an ARC copy of Streaks of Blue by Jack Chaucer to read and give an honest review of. Here's the synopsis and then I give my review.
Adam Upton and Thomas "Lee" Harvey are plotting the next big school massacre at their New Hampshire high school. Nicole Janicek, who knew Adam in elementary school, tries to reconnect with the damaged teen at the start of their senior year. But will Nicole’s attempt to befriend the would-be killer disrupt the plot and turn Adam’s life around before the clock strikes 12:14?

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

I thought this book was alright. It has a lot of potential and could have been great, but the grammatical errors, repeated fragments of sentences, and jumping point of views really messed it up for me. There was also a lot of unnecessary dialogue that made me feel like the author was trying to meet a word count goal instead of trying to keep the reader interested.

The Summer I Found You by Jolene Perry 4.5 Stars!

Just started off 2014 by finishing this book! Here's the blurb and what I think about the book:

The Summer I Found You

Jolene Perry's THE SUMMER I FOUND YOU, about a teenage girl trying to cope with her new diagnosis of type one diabetes and a teenage male veteran who is learning how to embrace his new life after losing an arm, who come together by using each other as an escape, only to discover through love and struggle that your life is what you make of it.

Ok, so first of all, I really liked this book. Granted it's called the Summer I Found you, and it's set in Spring, but whatever. I can over look that and the few grammatical errors that I saw because of what the story was about! I will try to give a better break down without giving too much away.

Kate is a 17 almost 18 year old girl who just had her boyfriend over more than a year break up with her right before their senior prom. Then he starts dating someone else right after that and doesn't try to hide it from her at all. To top that off she is still trying to deal with having Type 1 Diabetes. But her way of thinking is going to end up getting her killed

Aiden is a 19 year old Army vet who is trying to deal with the loss of his arm, the loss of a friend, his job, and everything that he wanted. But he can't fully process everything because he is trying to avoid doing the hard stuff.

Kate meets Aiden because he is her best friend's cousin. Aiden is roped into going to a high school outing with Kate so she wouldn't be by herself. Kate doesn't avoid his missing arm, which is something he isn't use to, but she doesn't tell him about her own issues. She just wants one person to look at her for something other than her disease.

What starts out as using each other for a distraction turns into something more. But how long can Kate keep her secret from Aiden? How long can either of them avoid their pasts? When things get heated will her secret bring them closer together or drive them apart? And will Aiden ever get over his survivor guilt and do what he knows needs to be done? Go pre-order this book and find out for yourself
