Spurs & Stilettos by Ashley Johnson (4 Stars!)

Hope Trahan has everything
she wants and everyone she needs…except her sister and someone who really is
deserving of her. Who knew two separate events would turn everything completely
upside down? When her best friend drags her down to the rodeo to help clear her
head the last thing she expects is to meet a sexy, sweet talking cowboy. That's
not what she came for but fate had other things in mind.

Wesley Tyler owns two national titles and is riding his way to the next. The
day he meets Hope, he knows there's no going back. He soon learns Hope carries
ghosts with her she can't quite shake. She holds things she wishes she could
let go of. Wesley just may hold the key to helping her overcome it all. Can he
win her over and help mend her broken walls or will her past hold her down?

I think I am in love with Wesley! A man that can stay on a bronco for a full 8 seconds is so freaking hot! And for him to be so willing to break through Hope's walls after first officially meeting her just shows that some people are drawn to other people for a reason. And while their relationship seems to move a little fast paced for me, the fact that the guy she had been with for years broke her heart, and Wesley was the one to heal it makes me smile. I love a good HEA and while there are parts of the book that made me want to strangle both Hope and Wes, that just makes the story more realistic. I do love the part where Hope finds out that Wes is the one that saved her on the worst night of her life, even if he didn't realize that it was her that he had saved. I just hope that people love this book as much as I do.

“Excuse me ladies.” The voice comes from nowhere and I look around spotting Amber first with her jaw on the ground. She’s speechless, this never happens with her. My eyes roam to find what’s got her in a comatose state and standing right in front of us is a guy in Wranglers so tight it should be a crime and a baby blue dress shirt with those snap buttons. This guy is playing this cowboy part a little too seriously. His boots are even worn like they are the only pair of shoes he owns. Oh brother, is he kidding me? I roll my eyes while Ambers jaw is still on the floor.

She slowly closes her mouth and manages a weak smile. “Hi.”

My eyes feel like they are constantly rolling, this is a damn joke. We’re next at the concession stand and I lean forward asking for a Bud Light. The girl hands me a big plastic cup filled to the brim. Thank you God. I take a big sip letting the cool liquid slide down my throat. I look back to see he’s still standing there and he’s looking at me. Practically staring. His green eyes are sparkling like emeralds and it takes a second before I’m able to tear mine away.

“I’m Wesley.” That drawl in his voice is almost making me swoon but I stop it. He extends his hand out to me. I can practically hear Amber scoff and I’m agreeing with her. Why isn’t this guy talking to her? I am nowhere near ready to speak to another guy.

Baffled, I just stand there trying to decipher what’s going on. “I’m Amber, this is Hope.” Amber interjects and I shoot daggers at her begging her to shut up. She’s smiling, and I know exactly what she’s doing.

“Nice to meet you Hope. I won’t bite, I swear. I may nibble and that’s it.” Oh man Wesley sure has some nerve! I’m rolling my eyes again and I’m really praying he doesn’t notice because I’m not trying to be rude.

“Nice to meet you too,” I mumble.

“I hope you like the rodeo tonight.” He says never taking his emerald green eyes away from mine. The intensity of his stare takes my breath away.

Monster by Francette Phal (4.5 stars!)

Accidental Gold digger.

Circumstance forced Eden Mercer to sell herself to Dominic Armstrong for half a million dollars and in return she is to play the dutiful wife in public and submit to him completely behind closed doors.

The Tyrant.

Dominic is Ruthless, manipulative and sadistic but Eden is determined not to break under his cruelty. But how does one persevere when in the clutches of a Monster?

I LOVED this book! It wasn't like anything I had read before! I mean it's not every day that you read about a man who marries a woman he has been obsessed with to keep his half brother from running away with her. And then for him to turn around and treat her the way he does because he thinks he is just in it for the money is mind blowing. But when she escapes him he never stops looking for her, and when he finds her, it's nothing like he expected.

First, her attitude and appearance is different. Then there are some other circumstances that have changed, and he isn't sure how to feel about them. After making her bend to what he wants for a period of time, he hopes to win her over for real and not have to go through a divorce. But can he break through her shell and show her that he really does want her. And can she forgive him for his behavior towards her for the majority of their marriage?

Let me just say that this book will have you wanting to keep reading no matter what you have to do the next day. I stayed up all night trying to get to the end of the story because I couldn't put it down. I was very happy with how Eden and Dom were able to break down each others walls and see what was behind all the crap at the beginning of their marriage and find a way to overcome it! It just shows that while true love exists you have to work for it just like anything else that is worth while in life.

****Warning the following excerpt is for 18+ only****

“Soon, sweetie, I promise,” he soothed. She moaned softly as he licked her ear, dropped soft warm kisses across her shoulder blades, he moved down her back, a wet tongue and hot mouth traced and kissed each vertebrae, making a slow and steady progress down her spine. It was a torturous progression that boiled the blood in Eden’s veins as she waited in bated anticipation. Breath stilled in her lungs, eyes widening when he drew apart her butt cheeks and ran his tongue down the wet crevice, from clit to the puckered rosebud of her hole and back again. It was undoubtedly one of the most erotic things he’d ever done to her body, and Eden didn’t know how to breathe properly. She gripped the sheets beneath her hands and bit down hard on her bottom lip to keep from screaming.

It was like a shot of adrenaline straight into her vein. It was blood vessels dilating, her heart galloping uncontrollably in her chest, it was gasping for breath when the air she drew in wasn’t enough. He owned her body, ate it like sun ripened peaches and drank the flowing juices of her weeping womanhood with his rapacious tongue. There were fingers there, slipping between the folds to dive deep into her blistering heat, while his thumb worked at her puckered hole, his wicked, wicked mouth showing Eden exactly how very little she knew her of own body. There was nothing but the explicitness of this act, the hyper awareness that made her feel like each inch of her body was struck by lightning, that killed her and gave her life all in one electrifying jolt. He was merciless and perfect, inviting her to shove her hips back and ride his face.

Death was imminent, sweet cataclysmic death seduced her into the gaping, welcoming arms of her orgasm. She plummeted, shattered into delicious little pieces on his tongue and fingers. Recuperating wasn’t in the stars for her as he gripped her hips and plunged into her depths in one long stroke. Pulling her arms and folding them at the small of her back, he held them there with one large hand as he sank in deeper, so deep that it hurt so good. Ass high in the air, face down in the sheets, Eden was at his complete mercy, filled to absolute capacity with his cock, and she whimpered, the vulnerability of her position giving her a sweet high.

“I’m going to beat this pussy, Eden, and you’re going to scream my name.”

And she did, a promise made completely true as he fucked her like a porn star. She screamed like the world was falling, his repeated strike against her G-spot making her see stars. It was too damn much, his jarring thrusts so deep that she could taste him, spurred her fall and she orgasmed on every inch of his cock.

Francette lives in Massachusetts with her amazingly supportive husband of ten years and her darling two year old son. Reading amazing books has led her to writing and she’s dabbled in fan-fiction before self-publishing her own works. She’s constantly thinking up new stories to write and does her best work when music is playing in the background. Romance is where she’s most comfortable but she hopes to one day venture in mystery novels. She has a weakness for coffee ice cream, tropical fruits and a good glass of wine.

Black Box by Cassia Leo

My latest read is Black Box by Cassia Leo. I am super happy that I finally bought this book and read it. I tried for a while to win it, but I finally gave up and said that it has to be good with all the people who also tried to win it. Besides this is Cassia Leo who wrote bit, so I knew it would be a tear jerker. :-) Anyways the synaposis and then my review:

Synopsis:

From New York Times best selling author Cassia Leo, comes an epic love story about rewriting destiny.

Over the course of five years, Mikki and Crush cross paths on three separate occasions. Their first encounter changes Mikki’s life forever, but their second meeting leaves them both buried beneath the emotional wreckage of a violent attack. Mikki is left with more questions and grief than she can handle, while Crush is forced to forget the girl who saved his life.

Now nineteen years old, Mikki Gladstone has decided she’s tired of the mind-numbing meds. She books a flight to Los Angeles to end her life far away from her loving, though often distant, family.

Twenty-one-year-old Crush has always channeled his blackest thoughts into his music, but he’s never had great aspirations. He decides to fly to Los Angeles to record a demo of the only song he’s never performed in public; a song he wrote for a girl he doesn’t even know: Black Box. He has no expectations of fame and he’s never felt like his life had any purpose… until he meets Mikki in Terminal B.
When Mikki and Crush cross paths for the third time in Terminal B, neither has any idea who the other person is; until they slowly piece together their history and realize that fate has more in store for them than just another love story.

So I just got finished with this box, and did it ever make me want to cry. It was a very emotional roller coaster, making you feel anger, hate, pity, love, and so many more things. And can I just say that I love Crush! He seems to know what Mikki needs before she does, takes into consideration of what she may not realize she needs, and does everything in his power to help her be comfortable with him. And when he realizesbthat thi is the girl that he not only saved three years ago, but who also saved him in return, he does even more to gain her trust and show that she has always been in his mind. This just goes to show you that even the simplest encounters in our lives and make a bigger impact on someone else's life. Thank you Cassia Leo for writing an amazing book and I look forward to korebin the future!

Clipped Wings

So I know that it has been a while since I posted a review, but it has nothing to do with lack of good material. I just get so caught up in each of these books, that I try to take a little time to let the thoughts settle, but then I get sucked into another book. I actually have people at work ask me what I am reading if I look at my phone for too long lol. But anyways, in order to better improve my blogging I am going yo go straight o my blog when I'm done with a book yo try to do my reviews. Hopefully this goes a little better.

So the book I am going to start with is Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting! And my goodness was it an amazing book! But so you know a little about it here's the synopsis!

Their body art is hot. Their chemistry is even hotter.

From her dark hair sweeping below her waist to her soft, sexy curves, Tenley Page intrigues tattoo artist Hayden Stryker in a way no one else ever has…especially when she asks him to ink a gorgeous, intricate design on her back. Yet for all her beauty, there is something darkly tragic and damaged about Tenley that Hayden is everything.

Covered in ink and steel, Hayden is everything Tenley has never dared to want, awakening a desire to explore more than the art adorning his stunning body. Trapped by a past that leaves her screaming from nightmares, Tenley sees Hayden as the perfect escape. Although he has secrets too, if they both keep themselves guarded perhaps their intense physical connection will remain only that.

But nothing, not even passion, can keep them safe from their pasts…

Holy crap was it a good book. *i was given an ARC by netgalley for an honest review*

Tenley is a broken girl who is also one of 13 survivors of a plane crash. She is consumed by guilt because everyone she loved was on that plane. Hayden is a tattoo artist who has to have control. Ever since his world exploded into chaos everything has to be in its place. However that doesn't work with Tenley and he doesn't understand why. What this book shows is how two beautifully broken people can be just what the other needs in order to deal with the past and help each other heal. I was very pleased with this book and can't wait to read the next! I really hope I don't have to wait too long.

Excerpts:

I knew Andy had to work tonight, but I hoped he was at home by now.
There was no way that I could go back to my dorm room and sit alone
while all of this was going through my head. I was hanging on to my sanity
by a thread, and I knew that if I was by myself while dealing with this, I’d
lose it.
I nearly cried in relief when I pulled into his apartment complex
parking lot, and I saw his car sitting there. I didn’t have to be alone. He
would help me. I ran across the lot, and in too much of a hurry to use the
elevator, I sprinted up the stairs to his floor.
Tears were streaming down my cheeks as I beat on his door. I prayed
that he hadn’t fallen asleep yet. I had a key to his apartment, but I hated to
use it this late at night. I didn’t want him to think someone was trying to
break in.
The door opened, and Andy was standing there. He took one look at
me and pulled me into his arms.
“Emma, what’s wrong?” he asked.
I was crying too hard to speak, so I shook my head.
“Who’s that?” an unfamiliar female voice asked.

“So, what are you going to do?”
“I need to talk to Ally first and tell her that you know. She’ll be angry
with me, but once she figures out that you’re not going to go out and do
something stupid, I think she’ll be okay. After that, I’m going to talk with
Emma. I said some really horrible shit to her tonight. I accused her of
sleeping with you since that’s what Ally told me.”
“Shit. Jesse, I need to talk to you about something.”
I was instantly on alert as I felt him tense beside me. “What?”
“I…okay, first off, it wasn’t something that either of us meant to do.”
“Andy, just tell me what the hell you’re talking about.”
He looked up at me, his eyes filled with remorse. “I slept with Emma.”
