Never Close Enough, First Kiss, and Trouble

So I finished that 6th book that I was reading....It was Never Close Enough by Anie Michaels. But since I still have to do reviews on the other two book I didn't from last post I will start with them. Really hard because all three of these books were AMAZING! But to start with I will go with First Kiss by Tara Brown.

Be prepared to be wowed as this YA fairytale takes on forms you can't even imagine and pulls you into the roughest ride yet from the bizarre imagination of Tara Brown! Erralynn Lake is not your average girl. She has talent, beauty, a kind nature, and a sweet disposition. But that's not who Erralynn Lake is. Who she is can be summed up in one word-cursed. The Lake's of Lakeland are not only famous for founding the small town, but also killing off any man who would dare love them. When summer break hits and the town starts to fill with all the returning friends who had left for college, she believes it will be a great summer vacation. One filled with the possibility of love, even if it is at a distance. But she couldn't be more wrong. Because as the unlikely cold wind blew into town, it brought with it something wicked.

I love YA books. I know that sounds weird coming from an almost 30 year old, but it's the truth. I can always find something good to read in that section. But this book blew my mind! I found it to be a mind twist while still being a story about a girl who wants a boy that she can't have and then meets another boy who takes her breath away, but is distant for some unknown reason. Throw in a few different fairy tales and you have an idea about what this book is about. It literally has aspects from Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast but turned into a modern twist. I can not wait to see what the second book holds!

The next book I want to give an honest review on was Trouble by Samantha Towle. Here is the synopsis of the book:

Mia Monroe is running. Running from a person she doesn’t ever want to find her. Running from a past she doesn’t ever want anyone to know. Desperate to find a future, that yesterday, she could only dream of having.

Jordan Matthews likes easy. Easy women. Easy life.

Then he meets Mia.

She’s damaged, troubled and has more baggage than any person can carry. But the more Jordan gets to know Mia-for the first time in his life-he finds himself wanting to try hard for something … for someone … for her.

And then life isn’t so easy anymore.

Jordan is everything Mia shouldn’t want. A whole bunch of dirty hotness, tattooed, cocky bad boy, who made his money at poker tables and picked his women up in bars. Yet, Mia finds herself falling for him. Then the past Mia was running from, quickly starts to catch up with her. Because that’s the problem with running … you have to stop sometime.

And when you stop, you get caught.

I have to say that this book was a pleasant surprise. The book starts out with the death of someone close to Mia, but she isn't distraught or anything you would assume she would feel. Instead she is very happy. Cut to the first chapter and she finds herself repeating history with her boyfriend and scared to leave him. She finds some unbelievable stuff out about her past and when she wants to talk to him about it, he gets mean. Then he tries the unimaginable and she has to find the strength inside herself to run. She runs all the way to Colorado where she meets Jordan Matthews. Jordan helps run the hotel where she is staying, and offers to help her with her search for the truth when she helps save his dog. Over the course of two weeks they get to know each other better and fall in love, and then reality comes crashing down on them. I thought that while the relationship seemed to be a little fast paced, it was pretty realistic for someone with their backgrounds. I loved the story line and how it played out. I can not wait to see what Samantha Towle has for us in the future.

And last but not least, Never Close Enough by Anie Michaels. Yet again, another great book that I gave an awesome rating of 5 stars for. Synopsis:

The last thing Ella Sinclair needed on her birthday was a cheating boyfriend, a broken heart, and a dead car battery in a remote beach town. At her greatest moment of need, a protective and sexy Porter Masters comes to her rescue. Ella takes a holiday week at the coast to discover herself and finds her attraction to Porter potent and undeniable. Uncertain of their future together, Ella struggles to open her heart to trust again.

Porter Masters takes care of his own: his single mother, his company, and now he’s compelled to protect the beauty that walked into his world. Never one for relationships in his past, Porter discovers that he was waiting all along for Ella. As their time together comes to an end, will Porter fight for the woman who stole his heart? Porter will find a way to keep her, despite the obstacles.

The relationship between Ella and Porter is another that I thought that moved kind of fast paced, especially since she broke up with her boyfriend of several years the morning after she meets Porter. Granted they had been having relationship issues and she caught him cheating on her birthday, but even Ella had issues with how quickly she seemed to be falling for Porter. However, I can not deny the chemistry that Mrs. Michaels was able to portray between Ella and Porter. I was really happy that they had finally gotten everything worked out on how they were going to keep their relationship going while being hours from each other. I wasn't all that surprised with the twist that was waiting when she got home to Portland, but I did have the rug yanked from under me with the turn of events and how the book ended. I can not wait for the next book to come out so I can see how the relationship between Ella and Porter plays.
